Mig Project II part B

Welcome back to the Phantom F4 Sundowner build.

I didn't keep up pictures of the detailed build. The kit went together really well; not like the Spads.

Got the pilots in and seated. And I did a quick flat black around the cockpit before masking off or the painting.

If you look closely at the second pic you can see a wing of another model I was test painting for panel lines. There's pre-shading and pin washes, and post shading, dry brushing, and all permutations of methods. I was testing out what I thought I could do.

Man I think the pilots look really good. Too bad nobody is going to see them once it's all finished. Hope I don't screw it up. Masking them off is next.

A quick look at the underside. For this mission extra fuel tanks are not required. Also we're only going to load the AIM-9D Sidewinders. The wingman (assumed - not built) has a pulse radar limited to search mode which negates the use of Sparrow missiles.

I'll mention here (if you haven't guessed already) I'm basing this off of the Mig kill by Lt Weigand and Lt Freckleton's 3/6/1972 in "Old Nick Two-Zero-One." Based on not a real historical, museum piece build. I'm not that good.

So here it is all ready to start painting:

...with my new airbrush!!! Got me a compressor and everything!!!!

So this is my real first time using an airbrush. We'll see how it goes in the next post.

Thanks for stopping by.
